Research has proved that laughter has the ability to relax the whole body, boost the immune system, trigger the release of endorphins and protect the heart. Compelling reasons to book your seat at the Jo’burg Child Welfare’s comedy evening ‘Give us a Smile’ wouldn’t you say? You can add one more
reason to this list though. The children in the care of Jo’burg Child Welfare will benefit from this opportunity to have a good laugh.

Who will benefit?
Jo’burg Child Welfare has since 1909 provided a range of direct services to physically,
emotionally and sexually abused, abandoned, orphaned and neglected children in Greater
Johannesburg.
While many of the services offered by JCW are related directly to children, JCW recognises
children do not exist in a vacuum and therefore works closely with and provides services to
families/guardians, as well as communities in addressing child protection issues.
Through its various services and centres Jo’burg Child Welfare effectively reaches more than
40 000 individuals on an annual basis. In addition, through its Orphaned and Vulnerable
Children Forum that works closely with 51 Community Based Organisations, Jo’burg Child
Welfare is able to reach a further 22 000 people.
The funds generated from this event will be used directly towards improving the lives of the
children in our care.
