Founded in 2023 by musician, educator, and UKZN Howard College graduate Owen B, Owen B Music School has quickly become one of Durban’s fastest-growing music schools. What began with just 15 students has now grown to over 100 students in 2026, driven by a passion for quality music education and developing the next generation of musicians.
Led by founder Owen B, who holds an Honours Degree in Jazz Piano, Composition, and Arranging from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, the school was built on the vision of making professional music education accessible to students of all ages and backgrounds.
Now celebrating its 5th concert production, Owen B Music School proudly presents Rising Stars Live — a spectacular musical showcase at the Barnyard Theatre that celebrates talent, growth, creativity, and the power of live performance.
The concert highlights the incredible progress and achievements of students across various instruments and vocal performances, while creating an inspiring platform for young performers to gain professional stage experience and confidence in front of a live audience.
Audiences can look forward to an exciting musical journey featuring hits from the 80s, 90s, today’s chart-toppers, and uplifting gospel favourites — all performed by the school’s talented students and supported by a dedicated team of passionate teachers and musicians.
The event will feature East Coast Radio presenter Carmen Reddy as the official MC and host for the day, alongside special guest performances by the phenomenal duo 2 Unique.
Two exciting shows will take place at 11:00 AM and 2:00 PM, promising an unforgettable family entertainment experience filled with energy, passion, and outstanding young talent.
