HEY NOW ! HEY NOW NOW !
The Greatest Alternative 80s Music Of All Time!!
The Hey Now, HEY NOW NOW concert comprises over two and a half hours of eighties alternative music with a commercial foundation. The repertoire includes medleys of the awesome songs by the great bands (Depeche Mode, REM, Duran Duran, INXS, Billy Idol, U2, Simple Minds etc) of the era, along with the huge hits the slightly darker bands had. A cutting edge 80’s rock show that celebrates and pays tribute to the best alternative rock bands of the decade! Fans can look forward to hearing the mega-hits of the decade such as Love Will Tear Us Apart by Joy Division, Just Like Heaven by The Cure, Blister In The Sun by Violent Femmes, Blue Monday by New Order and Should I Stay Or Should I Go by The Clash together with the huge chart toppers that Depeche Mode enjoyed in their golden era, like Personal Jesus, , People Are People, A Question of Time, and more! The show was conceptualised in 2014 by Danny de Wet (ex Wonderboom, eVoid & Petit Cheval), to fulfil the need for an 80’s tribute show that focused on presenting the myriad of huge ‘unconventional’ chart topping hits that alternative bands of the era enjoyed. Named after the chorus of The Sisters of Mercy anthem This Corrosion, Hey Now, HEY NOW NOW was an instant hit, due to both the excellent material on offer, and vocal talents of Dee Phoenix (Seven Side Story), Danny De Wet (also on percussion) & Quinton Lotter (on drums too), together with the kick-ass band of Justin Hart on bass guitar, keyboard wiz Mark Wilson and guitarists Mark Kenyon & Darren Drawbridge. Sold out runs on the Barnyard Theatre circuit led to the production being booked for a Carnival City New Year’s Eve celebration, as well as making a cameo appearances at a charity events hosted at the Hard Rock Cafe in Sandton & the Mix 93,8FM “Come Together” fundraiser. Over the 2015 Easter Weekend in April , the revue performed at 6 shows at Sun City and at the end of May hosted the Le Club Reunion which featured No Friends Of Harry and Ashton Nyte (The Awakening) More excitement for the cast in 2015 when two international acts invited Hey Now, HEY NOW NOW to be special guests on their SA tours and everyone’s favourite alternative production proudly shared a stage with Dilana (Rock Star Supernova) and Wayne Hussey (The Mission). In May 2016, after an appearance on the main stage of the Splashy Fen Festival and a sold out show at the Barnyard Theatre in Durban, Hey Now, HEY NOW NOW returned to Gauteng, to host yet another sold out special called “Depeche Mode vs Hey Now”. The production followed this with recent performances at the Barnyard Theatre in Vereeniging and, a jam packed concert at Jozi’s popular new rock venue, The Good Luck Bar.
