The Barnyard Theatre at Gateway is starting their 2017 programme and finishing the school holidays off with a bang, by bringing Durban audiences an Urban Circus from 6 to 9 January. Following on from the success of Barnyard productions Rock Circus and Big Top Rock, the popular mall venue has again teamed up with Art of Synergy which has assembled an international troupe of precision cirque artists to bring audiences a spellbinding show. In our dreams, the familiar, ordinary world is transformed into something more.... We are running, jumping, diving, soaring beings; the power of flight is ours; but only in our dreams. That is until now… Urban Circus has reinvented your world to show you what is possible when ordinary people do amazing things, as their cirque artists take to the sky to guide you back to the playground of dreams. Come and witness the spectacle, as they harness the pulse of the city and pour their talents into an electrifying programme of aerial and acrobatic magic, taking you on a thrilling journey that transcends the accepted limits of the urban landscape. In this scorching, new show, Art of Synergy descends on the familiar urban spaces of your city, transforming them into landscapes of opportunity. Acts included in Urban Circus include silk, trapeze, duo lira, rope, strap and contact aerial acts; as well as a cube act and Bollywood dancing.
