The Barnyard Theatre is ready to take you on a funky, hip and trendy musical journey through the 80’s. The evening is centred around a school reunion and your host, the head mistress, will take you through this fun musical journey.
Anything can happen in this show so be prepared for the decade that brought you everything from Boy George to Guns ‘N Roses to the Eurythmics. This decade produced synth pop bands such as Depeche Mode and rock chick bands with outrageous names like The Bangles!
The 80’s was the decade of new technology that saw the launching of MTV, the video machine, the fax machine and was the era of capitalism when Thatcher and Reagan ruled the world. Then there were the movies with the most awesome theme songs like Danger Zone, St Elmo’s Fire, Take my breath away, Flash Gordon, Xanadu and Ghost Busters and of course lets not forget that fabulous TV series Dallas with its dramatic theme song.
When we look back at this exciting decade we also had the shock factor in the pop industry with bands like Guns ‘N Roses with Paradise City, Sweet Child O’ Mine and the over the top Frankie Goes To Hollywood with their supremely controversial Relax!
Absolute 80’s is a party of note and is a special celebration of a school reunion taking you back in time where we will stay Forever Young and where you will be welcomed to the House of Fun by crazy fun groups such as Madness! Let’s not forget our own South African music with artists like Sipho Hotstix, Brenda Fassie and E-Void with hits like Burn Out, Weekend Special and Taxi Man.
Absolute 80’s is performed by a rocking 11-piece cast and a hilarious host/head mistress. The 80’s was absolute fun and simply produced the greatest hits and music of our era. So don’t miss out on this ultimate party!
